Part-Time Spanish Teacher

Blue Rock School is a small, not-for-profit, progressive school (Kindergarten- Eighth) in West Nyack, NY. We are oriented towards a balanced education, holistically engaging the mind, body and the feelings. Our approach is hands-on, project based and multi-disciplinary, with an emphasis on a love of learning and an emergent curriculum. We nurture students’ creativity, and provide academic challenge and individualized attention in a stress-free environment.

The Spanish Teacher must be fluent in Spanish, and have interest and experience in progressive educational practice, assessment and social learning. They will develop Spanish curriculum and lesson plans spanning grades K – 8th, including experiential activities such as  crafts, songs, rhymes and games. The applicant will be able to work with young children in a hands-on way, as well as, work with older students introducing the study of grammar, dialogue and sentence structure.

An interest in collaboration, communication and self-development is required. Blue Rock School is committed to Undoing Racism and promoting Environmental Sustainability. Both these topics are explored throughout our curriculum in age-appropriate ways, and inform our practice as we celebrate the diversity, culture and contributions of all people and foment environmental stewardship on our 5-acre campus. It is important to us that candidates have an awareness and interest in these areas as educators.
